The Health Career Access Program (HCAP) provides a path for applicants with little to no experience in the health care sector to get hired and receive paid training as part of their employment.
There are two HCAP pathways: you can train as a health care assistant or become a mental health and addictions worker. Both options offer rewarding and varied work with the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives every day.
The program is committed to inclusive hiring practices and provides equal opportunities for equity-seeking groups, including women, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, members of visible minorities and 2SLGBTQIA+ (two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and/or gender expansive, queer and/or questioning, intersex and asexual) applicants.
Normally, you must complete post-secondary education at your own expense before you can apply for these types of positions. Through HCAP, the Province will pay for your post-secondary education and provide a weekly stipend.
